Important People In The Bombing Of Pearl Harbor:
Admiral Kimmel, General Short and Admiral Yamamoto
Admiral Kimmel:
This man was the one who sent out the dispatch saying, " AIR RAID ON PEARL HARBOR THIS IS NOT A DRILL" and saw the Japanese first to tell the navy the Japanese was coming. They were already late enough to know that the Japanese were coming.
General Short:
General Short was also an important person because General Short also was aware that an attack would likely begin with an aerial assault, probably followed with an invasion. They did not by any means discount a possible attack.
Admiral Yamamoto:
Yamamoto held several important posts in the Imperial Japanese Navy, and undertook many of its changes and reorganizations, especially its development of naval aviation. He was the commander-in-chief during the decisive early years of the Pacific War and so was responsible for major battles such as Pearl Habor and Midway. He died during an inspection tour of forward positions in the Solomon Islands when his aircraft was shot down during an ambush by American fighter planes. His death was a major blow to Japanese military morale during World War II.
The Big Ideas:
1. If Japan did not bomb Pearl Harbor, United States would not even be in the war.
2. The United States was forced to join the war and forced to risk lives without warning.
3. When Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, the United States had to make the tough decision to join World War II.
Major Events:
A major event in the bombing is when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, the U.S. was forced to join World War 2 causing a huge turning point.
